The Smoky Mountain Resource Conservation and Development Quilt Project covers six counties: Sevier, Knox, Jefferson, Blount, Hamblen, Cocke. Annette Loy and Brenda Sloan started this project with six 8'X8' quilt squares. The quilt squares will be on display in Talbott, Swannsylvania, Jefferson City, Dandridge, Strawberry Plains and White Pine.

The Resource Conservation and Development has 375 councils nation-wide serving needs that pertain to natural resources (soil, water, plant, air and human), conservation and rural and urban development.  In Tennessee there are 10 county-regional councils who strive to address the following goals: 

  • Economic development
  • Infrastructure
  • Quality communities
  • Basic needs
  • Education and arts
  • Tourism
  • Conservation and administrative services
